Spectacular Support for DocBike Staffordshire!
Although the COVID-19 pandemic has meant we have been unable to engage with bikers at public events, our amazing supporters in Staffordshire have been determined to do all that they can to still raise funds for the charity, whilst abiding by Government guidelines and COVID-19 restrictions.
On 30th October at 4.45am, a group of friends along with Luke’s wife Abbie and sister Katie, set off on a 100,000 step walk to raise money for DocBike Staffordshire #LukesLegacy.
The team kept everyone updated on their progress during the day by sharing posts on social media and despite nursing some very sore feet and tired legs, everyone continued to smile throughout the challenge. Needless to say, they were all very pleased the see the finish line.
What a gruelling challenge they endured but nonetheless, they did it! The team’s sterling efforts were certainly rewarded as they raised £4,150 for the charity, which is truly phenomenal!
With thanks to their love for a tasty snack or two, officers from the Central Motorway Police Group have also shown their support for the charity, by donating funds raised from their tuckshop.
DocBike Staffordshire were one of three charities to benefit from their fundraising efforts and received £300 which will be used to purchase equipment for BikerDown courses next year. Simply amazing support and very much appreciated!
Our supporters’ amazing fundraising efforts in aid of the charity did not stop there, as on 25th November, another one of Luke’s colleagues Mike, set himself a challenge to run 30km and then complete a nine-hour shift at work.
Mike set off at 10.00am and completed the challenge in 2 hours and 33 minutes; still looking as fabulous as when he started! Absolutely amazing Mike! To achieve this with just your memories of Luke to help you along the way and to have already raised £1,050 is inspirational. What a legend!
We would like to say a huge thank you everyone involved for their phenomenal support, which will help to save bikers’ lives. Thank you does not seem enough, but all the team at DocBike Staffordshire will be forever grateful.
