Fantastic Support Continues for DocBike Staffordshire!
Wow! The team from DocBike Staffordshire have certainly been busy raising funds over the past few months. Carol Close, DocBike Staffordshire’s Regional Lead, provides an update on the fantastic support that they have received recently.
Luke’s wife Abbie celebrated her 30th birthday on the 20th March and Luke would also have been 30 years old on the 21st March. Instead of presents, Abbie asked for donations in aid of DocBike Staffordshire, which raised £770, which us simply amazing! Furthermore, Ade Hillier Sully from The North Staffordshire Stormtroopers, also asked for donations in aid of the charity for his birthday, which raised £100. Yet another wonderful and selfless act to help others.
On 30th May, supporter Lisa Brookes, ran the Virtual Edinburgh Marathon to raise funds in aid of DocBike Staffordshire. Despite the heat on the day, Lisa completed the marathon in 4 hours and 27 minutes, which is an outstanding achievement! With two further runs planned later in the year, Lisa plans to boost her fundraising efforts even further.
Barlaston Parish Council and their Clerk along with Staffordshire Goldwings member Karen St Leger, donated a defibrillator for the DocBike. This is a huge donation and brings us closer to our goal of equipping the DocBike with the equipment needed to help save lives.
After the very sad passing of Mr Steven Ward, Manager of the Co-op store in Chesterton, the store raised £1863.72 in Luke’s memory. Staff and customers donated money and held a raffle, whilst Steven’s family donated a further £300. To think of others at such a difficult time is an incredible thing to do, the team are so grateful for this heartfelt support!
The DocBike Staffordshire team were out in force to take part in the NHS Ride of Thanks on 4th July. Approximately 350 motorcycles took to the streets and passed by the Royal Stoke and Stafford County hospitals. Funds raised on the day were donated to three charities, including DocBike Staffordshire. Event Organiser, Steve Edwards, presented a cheque for £653 to the DocBike crew.
Finally, our thanks go to the Staffordshire Goldwings, who always support the charity in whichever way they can. Some of their members also took part in the NHS Ride of Thanks and afterwards, presented a cheque for £500 to the DocBike Staffordshire team.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported DocBike Staffordshire over the past few months. Your support is simply incredible and means so much to us all.
