DocBike Supports Think Bike Week!

by | Apr 23, 2021 | DocBike UK

Think Bike Week takes place from 23rd April – 3rd May and DocBike is delighted to confirm that we will be supporting the campaign.

Think Bike Week is a national initiative created by the National Fire Chief’s Council, which aims to give organisations the opportunity to promote motorcycle-related messages at a local and national level.

In Dorset, per mile travelled, more motorcyclists will be killed or critically injured than any other road user. Nationally, approximately 10 motorcyclists are killed or seriously injured every day.

Because motorcyclists and cyclists do not have a roll cage, seat belts or air bags, they are often seriously injured or killed when involved in a collision. We want to keep people alive on the UK’s roads and to do that, we need all road users to be aware of why motorcyclists get knocked off their bikes.

Throughout the 10-day campaign, we will be giving you an insight into our work and helping to raise awareness of the dangers that can occur when navigating junctions on a motorcycle, via our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). If you are not following us already, you can find us by searching @DocBikeUK.

We would love for you to get involved during Think Bike Week and to help raise awareness of our life-saving work, by liking, commenting and sharing these posts with your colleagues, friends and family. You can join in the conversation using hashtags #ThinkBikeWeek, #ThinkJunction and #HaveYouBeenSeen.

The DocBike charity works at a national level to prevent motorcycle collisions and to help bikers become more skilful riders, to reduce their risk of being involved in a crash.

Our team of riders are highly trained trauma doctors or paramedics, who look after critically ill and injured patients in the pre-hospital environment as part of their day job. When out on patrol for DocBike, they carry specialist medical equipment on the response motorcycles, so that they can provide roadside critical care to fallen bikers when they need us the most.

The charity receives no direct funding from the Government or the National Lottery and we rely on the generosity of the public for support. If you have been inspired by our work and would like to help us expand across the UK, please donate what you can.

Whether you make a one-off donation or donate £2 per month, every penny raised will make a huge difference in helping to save bikers’ lives, thank you!
