DocBike Staffordshire Receive £1,500 Donation to Fund First Aid Kits
DocBike Staffordshire were delighted to receive a £1,500 donation from Midland Expressway Ltd (operators of the M6 Toll), through their Drive for Charity in the Community Scheme, which will be used to fund first aid kits for BikerDown courses.
As part of their ongoing efforts to help save bikers lives, a vast amount of work is going on behind the scenes at DocBike Staffordshire, to set up BikerDown courses in the area. BikerDown is a free course which teaches participants how to keep an injured motorcyclist alive until the ambulance arrives. Taught only by emergency service professionals, the course is presented in three modules which cover managing the scene of an incident, how to keep someone alive until the ambulance arrives and how to avoid being knocked of your bike. At the end of the course, motorcyclists are provided with a free first aid kit which is small enough to fit on a motorcycle, but capable of helping to save a life.
Speaking about the donation and how this will be beneficial for BikerDown courses, Carol Close, Regional Lead for DocBike Staffordshire said:
“2021 will see DocBike Staffordshire #LukesLegacy, educating motorcyclists through a BikerDown course. Our thanks go to the M6toll for funding the first aid kits which will assist in saving lives until the emergency services arrive. With the knowledge gained from the course, together with the tools provided by the first aid kits, we can help to make a difference.”
Jo Brett, Midland Expressway Ltd Social Committee Member said:
“We are delighted to be supporting the BikerDown course with first aid kits for motorcyclists. Road safety is extremely important to us as an organisation so we were very keen to support this initiative with DocBike which could potentially help to save lives.”
Keep an eye on our website, we will be announcing more information about BikerDown courses in Staffordshire soon!
