As 2016 draws to a close, The DocBike Project has finished on a high, with sizeable donations from two key local organisations.

The DocBike Project, run by Dr Ian Mew and PC Chris Smith, was able to celebrate the end of summer with sizable donations from both Poole Tourism and the Dorset Masons.

Poole Tourism donated £2000 to the DocBike project following another highly successful year of Dream Machines at Poole Quay. The event, that takes place every Tuesday evening on the Quay between April and September, is the UK’s largest continuous bike meet, drawing in riders from across the country.

The Dorset Masons capped off the excellent year by showing their continued long standing support for the DocBike project, education and emergency care by donating a further £1000.
Graham Richardson, Tourism Manager for Poole said: “Supporting the DocBike is a natural fit for Dream Machines. The volunteer marshals felt that it’s a great cause and the donation will ultimately help riders who suffer accidents in the future.”

Dr Ian Mew said: “2016 was certainly a great year for the DocBike Project. We have been working hard to raise the profile of the project and to get our life saving messages to the right people. The continued support of both Poole Tourism and the Dorset Masons is really helping us to save lives everyday.”

Dorset BikeSafe Co-ordinator, PC Chris Smith said: “We’re really happy to receive these kind donations. They will help support the DocBike project and they will allow us to continue our life-saving BikerDown! courses into 2017, saving the lives of riders across Dorset.”

Following the success of the Dorset Biker Down! courses hosted in partnership with the DocBike Project, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, Dorset Police and proudly sponsored by Bournemouth Bikes, during 2016, Dr Ian Mew and PC Chris Smith will be building upon their success by delivering further Biker Down! courses through-out 2017.
