COVID restrictions may still be in place, but this did not stop the regional leads of DocBike from meeting by video conference yesterday, for the first time in the charity’s history.

Set up in Dorset in 2013, DocBike achieved charity status in 2018 and has since expanded to Northamptonshire, Staffordshire and Wales. The charity believes in working in partnership with local and regional partners from emergency services right through to the Department of Transport. It is this collaborative yet evidence-based and fully governed approach that makes DocBike stand out as a credible yet well-grounded force for good.

The meeting covered a raft of topics including local governance, standardisation of the image and messages of the charity across the UK, codes of practice and merchandise. It is clear that the time taken by the trustees to implement a well-governed and well-led charity structure last year is paying off.

There is still a lot of work to do, but this first regional leads meeting for each of the four areas marks a key stage in the national expansion of the charity and is one that we are very proud to celebrate.
