Our Awards
Although we are an emerging charity, our members have been humbled to receive a number of awards for the work that they have done to date, with regards motorcycle casualty reduction.
2017: Queens Police Medal – Presented at Buckingham Palace to PC Chris Smith
This award was obtained for for:
- 15 years motorcycle safety work, including the introduction of the DocBike and achieving a 90% reduction in motorcycle casualties associated with a local bike event
- 13 years service as a Family liaison officer, supporting innumerable families at the most distressing and traumatic times of their lives and ensuring other FLOs received the support they needed in his role as family liaison coordinator.
- His work with the Safe Drive Stay Alive events, working to improve the safety of both young and mature drivers
2016: Joint 1st Place in the Annual Trauma Audit and Research Network Award
For the first ever use of TARN data to prevent future harm through injury prevention.
Combining TARN data with police collision investigations over a two-year period allowed us to understand which motorcyclists were crashing in Dorset, where, when and why.
This information then allowed a collaborative approach to reduce the number of people killed or critically injured by engaging with those most likely to be involved in a collision in the future.
2015: Jubilee Service Award – Presented at the House of Lords – Dr Ian Mew
For the delivery of motorcycle safety initiatives, development and delivery of a dynamic emergency aid package to Bikers.
For bringing passion and expertise for enhancing life and delivering pre-hospital care to all aspects of Dorset society.
2011: Prince Michael of Kent International Road Safety Award – PC Chris Smith
For achieving a 90% reduction in motorcycle casualties associated with a local motorcycle event, through a decade of work on duty and in his own time.
